Rotterdam heeft een nieuw standbeeld cadeau gekregen van Stichting Droom en Daad. Een prachtig bronzen beeld van 4 meter hoog, dat een krachtig statement moet vormen op het Stationsplein. In elke andere stad zou het beeld inderdaad bestaande machtsstructuren doen wankelen, zoals kunstenaar Thomas J Price graag beoogt.

Ossip Zadkine is de maker van een van de bekendste standbeelden 'De verwoeste stad' in Rotterdam. Hij maakte dit beeld naar aanleiding van het bombardement op Rotterdam op 14 mei 1940. De stad werd toen een kwartier lang gebombardeerd en dit verwoestte bijna de hele stad. Op 15 mei 1953 werd het monument gepresenteerd aan de Leuvehaven.

Het was gemaakt om de Wijde Kerksteeg te sieren tijdens de intocht van Prins Filips en werd na diens bezoek op de West-Nieuwlandsche brug over de Kolk geplaatst.
